SEPTA Revenue Class Practice Test

When closing a trip with a senior's key card, if a QT (Quick Ticket) needs to be provided, it is necessary to validate the key card before issuing the QT. Validating the key card ensures that the passenger is indeed eligible for the senior fare and that the card is active and legitimate. This step is crucial in maintaining the integrity of fare collection and ensuring that discounts are applied correctly.

The validation process typically involves checking the key card's details against the system to confirm that it aligns with current regulations and eligibility criteria for senior citizens. By validating the key card, you are safeguarding against misuse and ensuring that the senior citizen benefits from the appropriate fare while maintaining compliance with fare policies.

This step is essential, as not validating the key card could lead to errors in fare collection and potential disputes with passengers regarding eligibility for discounts. Hence, validating the key card is the necessary procedure before proceeding with issuing any QTs or additional transactions related to the trip.
